Santa came!

These are some of my lovely presents that I thought I would share with you all. My lovely Mommy bought me all of these beautiful things, including a curling wand, lotions, a calligraphy pen and a paper guillotine! I know that is a bit of a strange present but I can't cut in a straight line to save my life!

My fabulous sis bought me Downton Abbey!!!!! She also made me a Grey's Anatomy inspired photo frame with 'total babes' across the front. We are both huuuge fans of the show so this was an amazing surprise! I also got a hipflask, some Frozen pencils and some lovely lace shoelaces. I love changing my laces in my converse so these are perfect!

My Nanna knows me so well. Chocolate, pjs, smellys and make-up brushes. What more could a girl want?!

These beauties were from my Nan. I don't usually wear bracelets but this is so exquisite that it may pop up in some future outfit posts so watch out!

In addition I also got money and vouchers which will no doubt be spent tomorrow when we hit the sales in Manchester!

Hoping you all had a fun and festive Christmas! What did Santa bring you?

Christmas Clutch Bags

I saw this little black clutch in Select and instantly fell in love with it. The label said £10 so I thought why not! Got to the till and it was a Fiver!!!! Even better! It also came with a chain for if you wanted to use it as a normal bag.

This beauty was £8, another bargain from...wait for it....Asda! It was exactly what I had been looking for as my works christmas party in Manchester was coming up! The best thing about it was that I could fit everything in and still have room for all my friends crap too!

ps, works party was awesome!

It's All About The Hats!

Both of these lovely pink bobble hats are from Primark. The one on the left I got last year and the one on the right I got this year. Although they look very similar I had to have both of them!

It seems the majority of my hats are from Primark! These three are also from there and I bought the top two last year and the red one the year before that.

I have been looking for one of these hats for aaaages! I finally found one in H&M kids section! I have a very small head and at £5.99 I was not passing up this opportunity to look like I have just stepped out of Downton Abbey!

I adore hats as you can tell but the one think that annoys me is that sometimes they can leave your hair looking flat and greasy. However since it has been freeeezing over the past few weeks I have been wearing a different hat for work every day. Got to keep them little ears warm!

Book Post #2 Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey

So I'm sure by now everyone has heard of or read Fifty Shades of Grey. I have found that it's a bit like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. Personally, I love it! Not because of the raunchy sex scenes (although they're good too!) but because of the story behind it (yes there is one).

In the first book you get a lot of introductions and a feel for what is going to come next. Ana first meets Christian Grey and embarks on an epic love story. It has sexy scenes in it but it also has a lot of psychological issues in it. Personally when I first read Fifty Shades I wanted to punch Mr Grey not kiss him! He really annoyed me until near the end of the final book when I finally understood all of his issues and saw things from his point of view.

In the second book, Ana has made some life changing decisions and the intense, exciting relationship with Mr Grey might not be all she thought it would be. This book focuses on the differences between Ana and Christian, and the struggles they pose on an already complicated relationship.

Finally, Fifty Shades Freed rounds the story off perfectly. With a handful of disasters thrown at them, the couple are forced to deal with their worst nightmares. I'm not going to spoil the ending if you haven't read them yet, but I don't think you will be disappointed.

Fifty Shades of Grey is out in cinemas in the UK on 14th February and you can find two trailers on youtube!

Hans Zimmer Revealed and Friends

Hans Zimmer has never performed to a live public audience...until 10-11 October.

Hans Zimmer Revealed and Friends Live at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, London.

The seats we had were at the very back of the theater, however, they were amazing seats. We could see everything and everyone even the choir!

'And Friends' included Lebo M (The Lion King) and Pharrell Williams (Spiderman). We attended the Saturday night showing, which Hans informed us was the first time world premier of Lebo M performing The Lion King with him. Being the biggest Lion King fan EVER, I may have felt slightly honoured and privileged to have witnessed such an amazing performance.

This is the concert list. Each performance lasted anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes. For the performance of Gladiator (one of my favourites) they performed a shortened version of the entire score. It lasted for about 20 minutes and included vocals by Miriam Blennerhassett for the award winning 'Now We Are Free' performance, originally sung by Lisa Gerrard.

Before commencing with some of the performances, Hans Zimmer gave a short story of how he came to write the score for that particular film, and what influenced him at the time. For example, The Lion King was written for his daughter and influenced by his father.

Hans has received a total of 10 Golden Globe Nominations, 10 Grammy Nominations and 9 Oscar Nominations. These nominations include Sherlock Holmes, Lion King, Rain Man, Gladiator, Inception and the Prince of Egypt.

He also received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.

So as you can see I was completely blown away by the performances of this evening. Hans Zimmer has always been my favourite composer ever since he wrote the score for The Lion King. That score made me feel every emotion possible in the space of one track. Then he went on to compose Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Holmes and the unforgettable Inception. He also collaborated with Steve Jablonksy for the Transformers scores and has also been known to work with James-Newton Howard, although this work tends to remain un-credited.

Other film scores composed by Hans Zimmer include:

  • Rush
  • Man of Steel
  • The Dark Knight
  • 12 Years a Slave
  • King Arthur
And many many more...

Marks and Spencers Hand and Body Collection

For my 21st birthday my Mom and sister bought me some amazing Marks and Spencers hand and body lotions. Included was some sensational body washes, moisturisers and lip balm. I have to say they smell amazing. With different scents such as aloe vera, coconut, fig and orange, and lemon, there really is a scent for everyone.
The hand lotions leave your hands feeling super smooth and delicate. The body wash is amazing although one tube lasts around 2 washes. Also, the lip balm leaves your lips feeling soft and full.

I would definitely recommend these amazing products for birthday and Christmas presents.

Natural Collection Powder

Hey peeps! So again I apologise for the crappy pictures...my camera is still broken and I have been using my phone to take my pictures.

This powder is amazing. For an impressive £1.99 from Boots Natural Collection it is a bargain! Not only does it apply smoothly and naturally, it lasts all day so there is no need to re-apply it every few hours. It also comes in a variety of different shades. I chose the shade 'cool' as I'm not pale, but I'm not tanned either. This powder has lasted roughly 3 months as I am now trying to get the last little bit out of it. Yes I am one of those that will scrape the very last bit out of something before I throw it away.

Have you bought anything new recently?

My first book post

So ... my camera broke. Now I don't have an expensive flashy camera but it was my little Nikon and I liked it. Anyway I decided that until I figure out whats wrong with it, I would use the camera on my phone.

This weeks post is slightly different. Instead of being beauty related or fashion related, it is book related. Now I am a huge book worm and like many of you find perfection in fashion, I find perfection in books.

I bought Mistress of Rome from a charity shop thinking that I would probably never get round to reading it. However, I did get round to it and it was amazing. Set in Rome a young slave girl meets her hunk of a gladiator and together they embark on a romance that will last a lifetime. Just as they plan their bid for freedom she is sold and transported worlds away. However, this kind of love doesn't just give in. He searches for her getting sold from one owner to another. Eventually he finds her....and their son, but the trouble is not over.
I can't wait to read the second and third books of the series, Daughters of Rome and Empress of Rome.

I've got the Max Factor

I have never used Max Factor foundation before but I couldn't resist trying their Whipped Cream range. I had no idea what shade to buy so I asked the assistant and she recommended 55 Beige. However I think that this shade is slightly too dark. When I run out (which is going to be soon) I will buy the shade lighter which is 'natural'.
I apply this foundation with a foundation brush and it applies brilliantly. It looks smooth and natural which is perfect. This pot has lasted me about 3 months as you only need to use a bit, which is great considering I use it every day.

Latest Garnier Products

Firstly I would like to apologise for the fact that my pictures are awful. I stupidly dropped my camera in the sand and it has not been right since :(

However I can show you some amazing new products that I have tried recently. I strongly recommend both of these Garnier treats!

Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo and Conditioner Silky Smoother - I always use Garnier products on my skin because I know they work and do not leave my skin feeling irritated. So when  found this new range of Garnier Shampoo and Conditioner I snapped it up immediately! It smells divine and leaves my hair shiny and smooth.

Garnier Fresh Radiance Boosting Scrub - I have never been let down by a Garnier product and this citrus scrub is no exception. As well as smelling lovely it leaves my skin soft and awake which is perfect!
