Hans Zimmer Revealed and Friends

Hans Zimmer has never performed to a live public audience...until 10-11 October.

Hans Zimmer Revealed and Friends Live at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, London.

The seats we had were at the very back of the theater, however, they were amazing seats. We could see everything and everyone even the choir!

'And Friends' included Lebo M (The Lion King) and Pharrell Williams (Spiderman). We attended the Saturday night showing, which Hans informed us was the first time world premier of Lebo M performing The Lion King with him. Being the biggest Lion King fan EVER, I may have felt slightly honoured and privileged to have witnessed such an amazing performance.

This is the concert list. Each performance lasted anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes. For the performance of Gladiator (one of my favourites) they performed a shortened version of the entire score. It lasted for about 20 minutes and included vocals by Miriam Blennerhassett for the award winning 'Now We Are Free' performance, originally sung by Lisa Gerrard.

Before commencing with some of the performances, Hans Zimmer gave a short story of how he came to write the score for that particular film, and what influenced him at the time. For example, The Lion King was written for his daughter and influenced by his father.

Hans has received a total of 10 Golden Globe Nominations, 10 Grammy Nominations and 9 Oscar Nominations. These nominations include Sherlock Holmes, Lion King, Rain Man, Gladiator, Inception and the Prince of Egypt.

He also received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.

So as you can see I was completely blown away by the performances of this evening. Hans Zimmer has always been my favourite composer ever since he wrote the score for The Lion King. That score made me feel every emotion possible in the space of one track. Then he went on to compose Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Holmes and the unforgettable Inception. He also collaborated with Steve Jablonksy for the Transformers scores and has also been known to work with James-Newton Howard, although this work tends to remain un-credited.

Other film scores composed by Hans Zimmer include:

  • Rush
  • Man of Steel
  • The Dark Knight
  • 12 Years a Slave
  • King Arthur
And many many more...

Marks and Spencers Hand and Body Collection

For my 21st birthday my Mom and sister bought me some amazing Marks and Spencers hand and body lotions. Included was some sensational body washes, moisturisers and lip balm. I have to say they smell amazing. With different scents such as aloe vera, coconut, fig and orange, and lemon, there really is a scent for everyone.
The hand lotions leave your hands feeling super smooth and delicate. The body wash is amazing although one tube lasts around 2 washes. Also, the lip balm leaves your lips feeling soft and full.

I would definitely recommend these amazing products for birthday and Christmas presents.

Natural Collection Powder

Hey peeps! So again I apologise for the crappy pictures...my camera is still broken and I have been using my phone to take my pictures.

This powder is amazing. For an impressive £1.99 from Boots Natural Collection it is a bargain! Not only does it apply smoothly and naturally, it lasts all day so there is no need to re-apply it every few hours. It also comes in a variety of different shades. I chose the shade 'cool' as I'm not pale, but I'm not tanned either. This powder has lasted roughly 3 months as I am now trying to get the last little bit out of it. Yes I am one of those that will scrape the very last bit out of something before I throw it away.

Have you bought anything new recently?

My first book post

So ... my camera broke. Now I don't have an expensive flashy camera but it was my little Nikon and I liked it. Anyway I decided that until I figure out whats wrong with it, I would use the camera on my phone.

This weeks post is slightly different. Instead of being beauty related or fashion related, it is book related. Now I am a huge book worm and like many of you find perfection in fashion, I find perfection in books.

I bought Mistress of Rome from a charity shop thinking that I would probably never get round to reading it. However, I did get round to it and it was amazing. Set in Rome a young slave girl meets her hunk of a gladiator and together they embark on a romance that will last a lifetime. Just as they plan their bid for freedom she is sold and transported worlds away. However, this kind of love doesn't just give in. He searches for her getting sold from one owner to another. Eventually he finds her....and their son, but the trouble is not over.
I can't wait to read the second and third books of the series, Daughters of Rome and Empress of Rome.
